Quagmire Swim Teams first New Year’s Eve show riffed on the Keanu Reeves/Alex Winter film Bill & Teds Excellent Adventure. As midnight approached, a character named El Salvadore emerged from a time-traveling phone booth and informed the crowd that they had entered a space-time wormhole and in order to save the universe from most certain destruction they needed to return by midnight and get Quagmire back to 2006. This, in turn, yielded covers of Duran Durans Girls on Film (1981) and The Polices Spirits In The Material World (1983) before the Beast of Time emerged from the phone booth carrying everyone back to 2006. The role of El Salvadore (in his off-off-off Broadway debut) was performed by Jambands.com DVD review editor Benjy Eisen, marking the second New Years Eve performance by a site staffer (following CD Review Editor Jesse Jarnow stunning turn as Baby New Year at moe.s 12/31/96 Tramps performance).
