With less than a month to go until the 48th annual Grammy awards, the Recording Academy has announced its 2006 Lifetime Achievement Award designees. Cream, Merle Haggard, Robert Johnson, David Bowie, Jessye Norman, Richard Pryor, and the Weavers all will be honored at special event held the day before the February 8 telecast of the Grammys. In addition, the late Tom Dowd will receive a technical award and Chris Blackwell is among the recipients of the Academy’s Trustees Award.
Looking two months ahead to this years Jammy Awards, nominations will be released late next month with on-line voting soon to follow. The Jammys will take place on April 20 at the Theater at Madison Square Garden.
