Last night, Tony Furtado began a three-night stint with Yonder Mountain String Band at Tampa, FL’s Tampa Theatre. In addition to supplying opening duties, Furtado also joined Yonder on both guitar and banjo for a handful of songs near the end of their first set including ‘Steep Grade Sharp Curves,’ ‘Years With Rose’ and ‘On the Run.’ The multi-instrumentalist then returned at the start of set two for ‘Free To Run,’ before providing auxiliary strings on the Beatles ‘Come Together,’ ‘Shenandoah Valley Breakdown,’ ‘Steam Powered Aereoplane,’ ‘Lost John,’ ‘Raleigh & Spencer,’ and ‘Up On The Hill Where They Do The Boogie.’ Tonight, the paired performers will return to the stage, presumably together, at West Palm Beach, FL’s Carefree Theatre.

It’s A Go Go Again

Eight years after releasing A Go Go, Medeski Martin & Wood have once again recorded with John Scofield. The four musicians recently completed a series of recording sessions at MMWs Brooklyn based Shacklyn Studios and the fall release will launch the trio’s new self-owned independent record label. MWW last performed with Scofield at last Augusts Gathering of the Vibes, as part of the festivals tenth anniversary celebration.
