On Phishs demo tape , affectionately referred to by fans as the White Tape, Mike Gordon offered a tribute to his artist mother, Marjorie Minkin. In addition to her own work, Minkin created several backdrops for Phish in its early days and, more recently, joined Gordon onstage for a dance at Coventry. From March 10-April 30, Gordon will once again collaborate with his mother, this time on the art installation ‘Another Side of In.’ Three years in the making, Another Side of In, will make its gallery debut on March 10th at Burlington, VTs the Firehouse Gallery, followed by an Artist Talk/Q&A session a day later. While Gordon worked on his 2003 album Inside In, Minkin created a series of abstract, Lexan pieces to visually represent her sons ambient audio textures. For the installation, the audio is triggered by viewer’s movements in the gallery to create a continually shifting soundscape.
