Continuing what looks to be a record day in the collaboration department, Galactic performed with a number of seminal jazz/funk musicians over the weekend. On Friday, at Anaheim, CAs House of Blues, Galactic welcomed famed Mardi Gras Indian Big Chief Monk Boudreaux—-who is opening this leg of the groups outing—-to the stage, as well as Karl Densons Tiny Universe guitarist Brian Jordon who performed on Hot Pants Road. A night later, at Los Angeles House of Blues, Big Chief Monk returned for Speaks His Mind, while alto saxophonist Lucas Ellman helped the group through Hamp’s Hump. The trio of Robert Walter, drummer Zak Najor and bassist Chris Stillwell then emerged for a set closing version of Hot Pants Road. Finally, last night at Stateline, NVs Caesars Tahoe Showroom, Tower of Power guitarist Trey Stone played guitar on Dump Truck. Galactic will perform at tomorrow at Aspen, COs Belly Up.
