Heres a good and geeky quick quiz question: what was the last band to open for Phish stateside? If you answered J. Willis Pratt and Weird Bionic, and didn’t reference either The Phish Companion or the Pharmer’s Almanac, then feel free to take pride in your mastery of Phishtory (and if you answered Big Frog, which opened for Phish in Japan three years later, you didn’t read our question correctly).
On December 13, 1997, Jon Fishman’s longtime friend J. Willis Pratt and his band opened for Phish at Albany, NY’s Pepsi Arena, continuing a longstanding friendship which also produced the album Bleeding in the Shark’s Tank. On May 11, Fishman and Pratt will once again team-up for a performance with Touchpants at Burlington’s the Metronome. Before then, of course, Fishman can also be found playing with the latest incarnation of the Everyone Orchestra at moe.‘s snoe.down.
