On March 12 and 13, 1971 the Allman Brothers Band took the stage in New York City and recorded one of rock’s definitive live albums. Last night to mark the 35th anniversary of the performances captured on At Fillmore East, the group delivered the music that appeared on that release in proper sequence. The Brothers opened with ‘Statesboro Blues,’ and then plowed into ‘Done Somebody Wrong,’ ‘Stormy Monday,’ ‘You Don’t Love Me,’ ‘Hot ‘Lanta,’ ‘In Memory of Elizabeth Reed’ and finally, ‘Whipping Post.’ The second set proved memorable as well, as following ‘Mountain Jam’ and ‘Woman Across the River,’ Chuck Leavell joined his former bandmates for four songs, including a set-closing ‘Jessica.’ Susan Tedeschi then stepped up for the encore, a version of ‘The Weight.’
