Over the weekend, the Allman Brothers Bands Beacon Theater residency continued, with three very different guitarists joining into the fray. On Friday, Taj Mahal stopped by near the end of the Allman Brothers Bands first set, lending his guitar and vocals to blues standards like Leavin’ Trunk, Checkin’ Up On My Baby and Slow Blues In G, as well as the ABBs Statesboro Blues.’ At the start of set-two, Ben Harper joined Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks for their daily acoustic segment, leading the duo through a version of his own Homeless Child. Harper remained by his guitar amp as the rest of the Allman Brothers filtered onstage for Midnight Rider and Smokestack Lightning. Later in the evening, Harper also helped the Allman Brothers Band close out its set with Southbound. On Saturday, PBS/funky Meters axe-man Brian Stoltz appeared during the groups second set for The Same Thing. The Allman Brothers Bands will return to the Beacon Theater for its ninth performance this month tonight.
