This evening at the Melting Pot in Athens, Widespread Panic percussionist Domingo ‘Sunny’ Ortiz will join longtime friend and collaborator Dr. Arvin Scott to Beat The Drum. The two will be part of a performance that also will feature extensive audience participation. Indeed, visitors are encouraged to bring their own percussion instruments and Drum Until Your Hands Fall Off or kick back and take in the rhythms. The evening also serves as a fundraiser for Scotts Drumming for Success Youth Program which provides free percussion classes and hand drums for all the kids while encouraging academic achievement, character building, and creativity through personal goal accomplishment and group cooperation.
