Last night, Galactic performed at Tipitina’s fifth annual Instruments A Comin benefit. The benefit also included performances by a number of Big Easy heroes including Soul Projects, The Stooges Brass Band, Bonerama, Little Freddie King and the Hot 8 Brass Band. During Bonerama’s set, Meters guitarist Leo Nocentelli also joined in an all-star take on Mari Gras anthem ‘Hey Pocky Way.’ Later in the evening Nocentelli returned during Galactic’s headlining performance, which also was marked by appearances from Papa Mali, Henry Butler and Donald Harrison, among others. In addition, Galactic drummer Stanton Moore delivered a solo gig across town at Preservation Hall with his own trio, which also featured Robert Walter and Will Bernard. Galactic will perform at New Orleans’ House of Blues on May 4.
