Sunday night, shortly after closing out Jazz Fests Fairgrounds activities, Ivan Neville and Dumpstaphunk performed a late-night set at New Orleans Tipitinas Uptown. In addition to Dumpstaphunk, the stacked bill included sets from the Rebirth Brass Band, Jake Shimabukuro and the Original Uptown Allstars. During Dumpstaphunks performance, George Porter Jr. also emerged for a cover of Creedence Clearwater Revivals Fortunate Son. A bit later, Ivan’s uncle Art Neville and Leo Nocentelli joined the jam session (which then included 3/4ths of the Meters, for those of you scoring at home). Ivan Neville invited a number of his other favorite musical collaborators onstage throughout his set, including Eric Krasno and the Dirty Dozen Brass Band drummer Terrence Higgens. Concertgoers who missed the Sopranos Sunday night also were rewarded with Dumpstaphunks rendition of the popular HBO shows theme song.
