The Dirty Dozen Brass Band will remember the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina through the songs of Marvin Gaye. On August 29, shortly before the first anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, the New Orleans veterans will release Whats Going On, a collection of reworked songs from Gayes 35 year old, politically charged soul album. In addition, the album will feature appearances from Public Enemy’s Chuck D, Ivan Neville, G. Love and Bettye Lavette. The brass section will celebrate the release of its upcoming album by performing two nights at San Franciscos the Independent on August 17 and 18. The Dirty Dozen Brass Band will perform Saturday at Lawrence, KSs Wakarusa Music Festival.
