On Saturday, the Yonder Mountain String Band dedicated its second set to Grateful Dead keyboardist Vince Welnick, who is believed to have taken his own life Friday night.
During the second half of its performance at St. Louis, MO’s The Pagaent, Yonder Mountain broke out Jerry Garcias
Reuben & Cherise and performed a sadly appropriate take on Delmore Brothers Life’s Too Short. For more in Vince Welnicks life, please checkout our past interviews with the keyboardist (1998 or 2003).

In other news, Yonder Mountain String Band has released the schedule of events for its annual String Summit. Of particular note, the group has confirmed that Jeff Austin and Umphreys McGees Brendan Bayliss will perform a 75 minute duo set, while Nickel Creeks Chris Thile will host a super jam. As previously reported, other artists scheduled to perform include Son Volt acoustic, Todd Snider and Shanti Groove, among others.
