Last night at Joes Pub, Jim Dickinson performed the first of two shows with his sons Luther and Cody along with their friend (and fellow North Mississippi Allstar) Chris Chew. The quartet delivered a number of songs from the elder Dickinsons new release, Jungle Jim & The Voodoo Tiger. Other offerings included a cover of Furry Lewis K.C. Jones (which appears on the Allstars’ debut recording) and a fitting version of J.B. Lenoirs Down in Mississippi. In addition, recent Jammys performer Charlie Musselwhite added harmonica to a couple of tunes, including Rooster Blues. The Dickinsons and Chew will be back at Joes tonight, while Musselwhite will appear tomorrow.
