This evening at 6PM John Browns Body will offer a free performance in Rochester. Doors will open for the Party in the Park gig at 5PM, with music slated to begin at 6. This event will draw together many of the groups fans, who wish to collectively mark the passing of JBB bass player Scott Palmer.

As reported yesterday on Relix.com, Palmer passed away earlier this afternoon at the age of 38. Palmer, who has been with the band since 2002, was diagnosed with cancer of the gall bladder in January and succumbed to the disease in his hometown of Rochester, NY at 12PM. While Palmer underwent cancer treatments, Nathan Edgar subbed for him on the road with John Browns Body. Along with John Browns Body, Palmer backed reggae icon Justin Hinds on Live at Grassroots. He also performed on two of John Browns Bodys studio discs, 2002s Spirits All Around Us and 2005s Pressure Points. While undergoing treatment, Palmer performed with the band at New York’s Irving Plaza in February to an audience that included the legendary Chris Blackwell.
Condolences can be sent to Scott’s family: Mr. and Mrs. Vince Palmer, PO Box 148, Pultneyville N.Y. 14538
