Bonnaroo officially kicked-off last night with a handful of performances spread throughout the festival’s multiple tents and enclosed performances. The multi-day festival’s coveted Thursday night spot has long served as a launching pad for emerging and underground bands. Included in this year’s crop of performers were I-Nine, the Motet, Cat Empire, the Wood Brothers, dios (malos), Marah, Devotchka and Toubab Krewe. Steel Train, who graduate to a Saturday performance this year, also spent four hours busking in Bonnaroo’s camground, performing a traveling acoustic set for fans. The Motet’s Dave Watts kicked-off the weekend’s string of collaborations, playing shaker with fellow Colorado favorite Devotchka. A bit later, the Disco Bisuits’ Allen Aucion performed with his old Georgia friends Moonshine Still during its Troo Music Lounge. A sight for man, DJ Logic also spun throughout the night in the Silent Disco tent.
