Summer tour season is upon us and, once again, the String Cheese Incident has hit the road with some friends. As previously reported, throughout the summer the sextet will co-headline a theater and amphitheater run with the RatDog. Over the weekend, the two groups kicked off their joint venture at Santa Margarita, CA’s Pozo Saloon. A night later, the collaborations truly kicked in at Los Angeles’ Greek Theatre. First, Andrew Warren, son of SCI’s Tour Manager J-Dub Warren, played percussion on ‘Shine.’ Next, RatDog saxophonist Kenny Brooks enhanced ‘Impressions.’ RatDog/Dead keyboardist Jeff Chimenti then joined Brooks for the New Orleans anthem ‘Hey Pocky Way.’ Michael Kang returned the favor during RatDog’s show, adding fiddle to a number of songs including ‘Uncle John’s Band,’ ‘Stella Blue,’ ‘Throwing Stones’ and ‘Samson and Delilah.’ RatDog and String Cheese Incident will perform tonight at Alpine, CA’s Viejas Casino Outlet Center Park.
