After spending the weekend at Red Rocks with the String Cheese Incident, RatDog hosted its own celebration Tuesday at Oklahoma City’s Zoo Amphitheatre. In addition to Bob Weir’s longtime project, the multi-band bill featured appearances by Keller Williams, Taj Mahal and Michael Kang. As expected, collaborations were more frequent than fireworks on Independence Day. First, Bob Weir lent his skills to Keller Williams on ‘Jack Straw’ and ‘On the Road Again.’ Next, Weir, Kang and Williams joined Taj Mahal during his set, with the RatDog guitarist taking the lead on ‘K.C. Moan,’ ‘Deep Elem Blues’ and ‘Good Morning Little Schoolgirl’ (RatDog drummer Jay Lane joined Weir for the final selection). Finally, Kang played fiddle and violin for the majority of RatDog’s set, beginning with ‘All Along the Watchtower.’ Taj Mahal also appeared on ‘Little Red Rooster.’ RatDog and String Cheese Incident’s summer tour picks up tonight in Milwaukee, WI.
