Last night, Phil Lesh and Friends and G.R.A.B., the occasional union of Trey Anastasio, Mike Gordon and the Duo, performed in Bethel, NY at the site of the original Woodstock festival. As a tribute, Phil Lesh and Friends, with the aid of Anastasio, recreated the Grateful Dead’s entire Woodstock performance during their second set. After opening with ‘Uncle John’s Band,’ Phil Lesh and Friends traveled back to Yasgur’s Farm, offering ‘St. Stephen,’ ‘Mama Tried,’ ‘Dark Star,’ ‘High Time’ and ‘Turn On Your Lovelight.’ Anastasio nodded to Woodstock during his set as well, pretending to smash his guitar Jimi Hendrix-style amidst a circus of light and ‘Star Spangled Banner’ teases. On Friday, Anastasio also performed with Phil Lesh and Friends throughout their entire second set at Wantagh, NY’s Jones Beach Amphitheater. The former Phish guitarist gusted on such songs as ‘Scarlet Begonias,’ ‘Fire On The Mountain,’ ‘Dark Star,’ ‘The Other One,’ ‘Stella Blue,’ ‘Not Fade Away’ and ‘US Blues.’
