Detroit Lakes, MNs the fourth annual 10,000 Lakes Music Festival is in full swing, boasting performances from the String Cheese Incident, Tea Leaf Green, O.A.R. and the Green Apple Music Festival supergroup of Steve Kimock, Stephen Perkins (Banyan, Janes Addiction), Reed Mathis (JJFO), Nate Wilson (AOD) and Wille Waldman (Bayan). Firmly rooted in the Grateful Dead culture, the multi-day gathering gives preferred treatment to tapers, fosters unique collaborations among entertainers and allows its headliners to perform two-sets. Last night, the String Cheese Incident headlined 10,000 Lakes

second day, offering a two-set show featuring such staples as Black Clouds, Texas, and Jellyfish. During San Jose, near the end of the groups first set, Garaj Mahals bassist Kai Eckhardt and percussionist Alan Hertz also both emerged for a lengthy jam. Later in the evening, Bill Nershi paid a surprise visit to Railroad Earth, picking with the New Jersey bluegrass outfit until early in the morning, while Waldman, Mathis and Perkins all joined the Mutaytor.
