Eric Claptons highly anticipated performance in Moscows infamous Red Square has been cancelled. Slowhand was originally scheduled to perform in the Russian square on August 3 with his touring band, which currently includes guitarists Derek Trucks and Doyle Bramhall II, and the Robert Cray Band. According to Claptons fan site, Wheres Eric, though Clapton had been issued a permit allowing him to perform to approximately 20,000 people, over the weekend Russian officials withdrew the guitarists permit without explanation. Claptons European tour will conclude tonight in Helsinki, Finland.
