A number of noted live entertainers have donated their strings as part of the Relix Band project. Created by Azu Studio designer Hannah Gasner and Relix President/Publisher Steve Bernstein, the Relix Band is a fashionable accessory created by previously played strings from top artists. Each Relix Band is individually sized and sold online, with all profits going to charity. Participating artists currently include Phil Lesh, Bob Weir, Mike Gordon, Buddy Guy, Warren Haynes, John Bell, Dave Schools, Peter Frampton, Les Paul, Dickey Betts, Les Claypool, Carlos Santana, Goo Goo Dolls, Michael Franti, Hot Tuna, Ziggy Marley, David Grisman, Michael Kang, Keller Williams, moe., B Fleck, Umphreys McGee, the Disco Biscuits, Slightly Stoopid, Little Feat and Baaba Maal. All profits go to charities personally selected by the donating artists or to music-related charities like HeadCount, The Rex Foundation, SEVA and Rock n Wrap It Up. To me, this is the perfect piece of memorabilia for the passionate music fan, says Bernstein. What better way to get close to your favorite artists than to wear their strings.
