As the first anniversary of Hurricane Katrina draws near, a new DVD will look back on one of last years most memorable benefit performances. Held on September 20, 2005, From the Big Apple to the Big Easy took place simultaneously at New Yorks Madison Square Garden and Radio City Music Hall, featuring an eclectic mix of rock-icons and New Orleans natives. _ From the Big Apple to the Big Easy: The Concert For New Orleans_ will capture highlights from the MSG portion of the benefit,
including appearances by Allen Toussaint, Bette Midler, Buckwheat Zydeco, Clarence ‘Frogman’ Henry, Cyndi Lauper, Dave Bartholomew, Diana Krall, the Dirty Dozen Brass Band, The Dixie Cups, Elton John, Elvis Costello, Irma Tomas, Jimmy Buffett, John Fogerty, Kermit Ruffins, Lenny Kravitz, the Meters, the Neville Brothers, the Rebirth Brass Band, Ry Cooder, Simon & Garfunkel, and Troy ‘Trombone Shorty’ Andrews. Of particular note is a Jammys style collaboration between Matthews and Buffett on Neil Youngs Heart of Gold. 100% of net proceeds from _ From the Big Apple to the Big Easy: The Concert For New Orleans_ help those affected by Hurricane Katrina.
