Revenge of the Book Eaters
Last night, a smorgasbord of musicians, comedians, authors and artists appeared at 826NYCs The Revenge of the Book Eaters benefit show at New Yorks Beacon Theater. David Byrne headlined the evenings festivities, closing out a bill which included appearances by indie-sensation Sufjan Stevens, Daily Show host Jon Stewart, John Hodgman, The Long Winters’ John Roderick and Sarah Vowell, among others. At the end of the evening, Byrne invited Stevens onstage for a version of Lefty Frizzells Saginaw Michigan. Surprising many fans, during his set Byrne primarily offered country-rock covers, though the former Talking Heads leader did offer a version of the groups The Big Country.
