Perhaps to catch the weekends Notre Dame game, Umphreys McGee returned to its South Bend, IN womb Friday for a performance at Robert J. Fischgrund Center for Performing Arts. Keeping with the evenings hometown vibe, a number of longtime Umphreys McGee associates appeared with the group during its performance. During the groups first set, Jamie Magera, Jake Cinningers guitar teacher, joined the group on guitar for Thin Air. Next, former OM Trio keyboardist Brian Felix, who plays with Umphreys McGee drummer Kris Myers in Drop Q, and guitarist Jamie Magera appeared on It’s About That Tim during the groups second set. For its encore, Umphreys McGee offered a medley of the Beatles Mean Mr. Mustard, Polythene Pam and She Came In Throughout the Bathroom Window. Jennifer Hartswick appeared sporadically throughout the encore, adding auxiliary vocals and trumpet.
