Widespread Panic held court at New Yorks Radio City Music Hall throughout the weekend, inviting a number of old friends onstage to officially welcome Jimmy Herring into its fold. Helping ease Herrings transition into the band, Widespread Panic producer John Keane touched up the groups sound by adding pedal steel and electric guitar each night of the groups run. On Friday, Herrings Aquarium Rescue Unit bandmate, Col. Bruce Hampton, provided vocals on a number of his signature songs, including Time is Free and Fixin’ to Die. Jeff Birddog Lane, who plays percussion in longtime Widespread Panic guitar technician Sam Holts Outformation project, also appeared during a drums segment sandwiched between Surprise Valley. On Saturday, Widespread Panics percussion team invited a horde of musicians onstage during a drum jam leading out of Driving, including Tyler Geenwell (Codetalkers), Preston Hoffman (Mobias Project), James Guerrero (De Sol) and Jeremy Hoenig (De Sol).

Perhaps the weekends unofficial theme, the group performed a version of Michael Stanleys Let’s Get The Show On The Road during its encore Saturday night. Widespread Panic will perform at Burlington, VTs Memorial Auditorium tomorrow.
