In preparation for its Who support dates, moe. has liberally dipped into the veteran rock groups songbook throughout its west coast tour. Last night, the group covered the Whos Summertime Blues at Del Mar, CAs Race Track. A night earlier, while performing at Ventura, CAs Majestic Theatre, Rob Derhak supplied lead vocals on a show closing version of the Whos Bargain. Finally, on Friday, moe. invited out its opening act, New Monsoon, for its first take on Eminence Front at San Franciscos famed Warfield Theater (New Monsoons Jeff Miller supplied lead vocals). Since kicking off its fall tour, moe. has also covered My Generation, (9/15), I Can’t Explain (9/16), Going Mobile (9/17), The Seeker (9/19), Pinball Wizard (9/20) and Behind Blue Eyes (9/21). The groups string of covers will likely cease tonight when moe. opens for the Who at Chicagos United Center.

Also in the New Monsoon sit in department , on Saturday Hot Buttered Rums Nat Keefe and Aaron Redner performed with their longtime friends at Petaluma, CAs Mystic Theater on Blue Queen and Mountain Air. Keefe returned during New Monsoons encore for a rare cover of Jerry Garcias They Love Each Other. New Monsoon will perform at New Market, NHs The Stone Church Friday.
