Last night Umphreys McGee wrapped up a two night run at Boulders Fox Theater. The band is now off until March 14 when it begins a four show run with guitarist Adrian Belew. Last nights show featured the debut of a new UM original Alexs House, as well as a cover of Ozzy Osbournes Mama I’m Comin’ Home, which UM had only performed on one prior occasion (10/30/04). On Monday, the group brought out some local musicians, as Yonder Mountain Sting Bands Jeff Austin took the stage on mandolin for Great American while Bill McKay (Leftover Salmon, Derek Trucks Band) and Doug Baker contributed to Wife Soup. While UM won’t perform for another week, Kris Myers will appear with Glenn Kotche (Wilco), Rich Stitzel and the Elmhurst Percussion Ensemble at Elmhurst Colleges Hammerschmidt Memorial Chapel on Thursday and Brendan Bayliss and Jake Cinninger will deliver an acoustic performance at the Chicago History Museum on Friday.
