With JazzFest right around the corner George Porter Jr. has confirmed a handful of New Orleans gigs with his various projects. The Meters bassist will begin his JazzFest sprint with a Runnin Pardners show at the Southport Music Hall on April 26. A day later he will perform with the same group at the JazzFest Fairgrounds and, later that day, he will play with an unknown group of friends at the Preservation Music Hall. He will also gig with the New Orleans Social Club at the JazzFest Fairgrounds (4/29), Tipitinas Uptown (4/30) and the Howlin Wolf (5/4). In addition, Porter will play with PBS at the Howlin Wolf (4/29), with Snooks Eaglin at the JazzFest Fairgrounds (5/5) and with the Funky Meters at the Howlin Wolf (5/5). Lest he miss his regular spot at the Maple Leaf, Porter will also play with offer a pair of trio performances at the veteran venue on May 3 and 4.

He plays with PBS at Boulders Fox Theatre tonight.
