Our final Monday look at SXSW centers around Jambands.com/Relix veterans Galactic . On Friday the New Orleans-based quintet played two shows in Austin, both of which featured a number of MCs slated to appear on the groups upcoming hip-hop album. Galactics first found the group on a bill with Kings of Leon at Austins Stubbs BBQ and featured a brief seven song set. Gift of Gab appeared with the group early on, singing on Alphabet Aerobics, Supreme People, and The Corner. Next up, Lyrics Born appeared on Pack Up, I Changed My Mind, and FEMA. Finally, The Coups Boots Riley took the microphone for Hussle Up.

Later that night, Galactic shared a bill with El-P, Brother Ali, and Aesop Rock at Stubbs BBQ. Gift of Gab returned for Alphabet Aerobics, Supreme People, and The Corner, while Lyrics Born reprised his role on Pack Up and FEMA.
Boots Riley stuck around a bit longer, appearing on Monkey on Your Back,
We are the Ones, and Hussle Up. All the MCs then helped the group close its set with a take on Bongo the Dog.
Also in the SXSW sit-in department, moe. manager Jon Topper and former Wetlands talent buyer Jake Szufnarowski spoke at the screening of site editor Dean Budnicks _ Wetlands Preserved: the Story of an Activist Rock Club_. The documentary screened twice during the multi-day film/music conference.
