Les Claypool once proclaimed to have played every festival under the sun except Lilith Fair and has done a pretty darn good upholding his reputation ever since. So, it makes sense that the Primus leader made several appearances in Austin throughout SXSW. On Friday, Claypool screened his film, _ Electric Apricot: Quest For Festeroo_, at the

Alamo Downtown and, a night later, he appeared in character for an Electric Apricot performance at Opal Divine’s Freehouse. But, perhaps more exciting, on Thursday Claypool performed with Rage Against the Machine/Audioslave guitarist Tom Morello at Austins the Parish. Though billed as a solo gig under his Nightwatchman alias, Morello used his showcase to host a jam-session of sorts, featuring appearances from such marquee names as Slash, the MC5s Wayne Kramer, and Extremes Nuno Bettencourt. Perry Farrell also led Morello, Slash, and Bettencourt through versions of Janes Addictions Mountain Song and Aint No Right. At the end of the night Claypool emerged, jamming with Morello on a set-closing cover of Woody Guthrie’s ‘This Land is Your Land.
