Back in 1991 Allman Brothers band founding drummer Butch Trucks saw Marc Quinones lending percussion to Spyro Gyra. As Quinones remembers, Butch came backstage and told management he was going to steal me from the band. Two months later, everything kind of fell into place. Last evening at the Beacon Theatre, Spyro Gyra saxophone player Jay Beckenstein, showed his continued support of Quinones in appearing for two songs with the ABB. Beckenstein performed on both In Memory of Elizabeth Reed and Southbound and guitarist Warren Haynes thanked him from the stage for his role in connecting Quinones with the Brothers. The ABB is back at the Beacon tonight, tomorrow and onward through April 8.
