Ben Harper, MMJ, STS9, Soulive and G. Love Join Pearl Jam, Daft Punk and Interpol at Lollapalooza
Ben Harper & the Innocent Criminals, Daft Punk, My Morning Jacket, Iggy and the Stooges, Sound Tribe Sector 9, G. Love and Special Sauce, Interpol and Muse will join previously confirmed headliner Pearl Jam at the this years Lollapalooza .
Since refashioning itself as a weekend festival in 2005, Lollapalooza has joined Coachella, Bonnaroo, and Austin City Limits as one of the United States four marquee festivals.
Pearl Jam appeared at the 1992 edition of Lollapalooza, shortly before ascending to international fame. That festivals lineup also featured Soundgarden, Ministry, Lush, Jesus and Mary Chain, Ice Cube and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. While Pearl Jam was once a staple on the European festival circuit, after nine fans died during a 2000 performance at Denmark’s Roskilde Festival, the group largely stopped performing at large-scale gatherings. Festival founder Perry Farrell will participate as well, leading the Satellite Party he previewed at SXSW this spring. ‘We’re readying now to entertain, enlighten and soul-satisfy, Farrell tells Jambands.com/Relix. We want people to expand their limits using music as a vehicle and Grant Park as their spectacular environment. We are ever more clever with interactive gaming, and evergreen with a complete carbon-neutral agenda.
While the festival has a decidedly indie-rock bend, the multi-day gathering will represent an eclectic mix of music styles, ranging from hip-hop to punk to jam to soul/reggae. In addition to the festivals previously announced headliners, Lollapalooza will feature sets by Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Snow Patrol, The Roots, Patti Smith, Kings of Leon, The Black Keys, Regina Spektor, Spoon, Lupe Fiasco, TV On The Radio, Pete Yorn, G.
