While keyboardist Steve Molitz jetted off to New York to play with Phil Lesh on Monday, the remaining members of Particle performed a trio set under the name 3rd Stone at Madison, WIs The High Noon Saloon . The group offered a salute to rocks greatest trios during its first set, including such songs as Cheap Sunglasses (ZZ Top), In Bloom (Nirvana), Crossroads (Cream), Message In A Bottle (The Police), Long View (Green Day), Couldn’t Stand The Weather (Stevie Ray Vaughn & Double Trouble), All Apologies (Nirvana), and Voodoo Chile (Jimi Hendrix Experience). During the groups second set, which included a number of reworked Particle originals, opening act Fat Maw Rooney appeared on a jam leading out of The Golden Gator. Particle will appear at Minneapolis, MNs Cabooze tonight.
