Trey Anastasio has pleaded guilty to fifth-degree attempted criminal possession of a controlled substance. As first reported by the Burlington Free Press, Anastasio changed his not guilty plea to a guilty plea as part of a plea bargain which orders him into a three-month, court-ordered drug rehabilitation program. Anastasio will temporarily relocate to New Yorks Washington County for at least the first three months of his program. According to the Burlington Free Press, he faces random drug testing each day and, if he fails the program, he will be sentenced to one to three years in prison. If he succeeds in the program he will be sentenced to five years probation. Anastasios plea agreement requires him to waive his right to appeal. If he is convicted of any other felony in the next ten years he would be subject to a mandatory prison sentence. According to Anastasios attorney, his touring will be on indefinite hold, though his lone confirmed appearance at Julys 10,000 Lakes Music Festival will still likely take place.
