Falling in the slightly late but still interesting category, on Saturday Phil Lesh played a private benefit for his sons school, Ross, CAs The Ross School. For this performance Leshs offered two sets, the first with his sons Graham and Brian, John Molo, and a handful of Stanford University students. The second set featured Lesh and his sons, David Nelson, Pete Sears, Barry Sless, and Molo. Throughout the night, Lesh ran through a series of Grateful Dead staples and intriguing covers, including Queens Crazy Little Thing Called Love and an appropriate version of Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young’s Teach Your Children. During the low-key evening, several members of the Ross School community performed with the all-star band, while Graham Lesh, who plays in the group Crystal City, took the lead on several selections, including Sugar Magnolia and Pride of Cucamonga.
