Last night a local Bay Area hero, Tea Leaf Greens Trevor Garrod, gave his nod of approval to a pair of rising San Francisco stars. The Tea Leaf Green keyboardist played a nearly five hour gig at San Franciscos Giordano Bros. as part of guitarists Sean Leahy and Geoff Kiyoshi Fosters weekly residency at the club. In addition, the evenings lineup featured London Street drummer Daria Johnson and guest vocalists Justine Bennett and Brod Rob.
The performance featured a range of material, including Garrods Ive Gotta Truck, Ships, Oreste, Middle Son and Don’t Depend On Them. The group also ran through an eclectic mix of covers, such as Pink Floyd’s Breathe, John Prine’s Angel from Montgomery and Tom Petty’s Breakdown. At the start of the second set, Foster moved behind Garrods keyboard for his own Down and Out in San Francisco and an extended version of Everything I Am, while Garrod showed off his bass skills.
Tea Leaf Green will perform at Wavy Gravys SEVA benefit tomorrow.
