RatDog began as a collaboration between Bob Weir and Rob Wasserman. After the two played a series of shows, Wasserman recommended that drummer Jay Lane join in as well. From there, the three performed nearly 500 live shows together with the evolving RatDog until Wasserman departed in October 2002. The original RatDog Three (which performed three gigs together at Wetlands in February 1999) will appear together once more this coming Friday in San Francisco. Weir, Wasserman and Lane will take the stage at San Francisco’s Ferry Building Grand Hall as part of a benefit for San Francisco’s Creative Arts Charter School. Tickets for Heart For The Arts are currently on sale.
