Panic on the Rocks

Widespread Panic currently holds the record for the most sold out shows at Morrison, COs Red Rocks and over the weekend the group raised the bar a bit higher. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday the sextet played to sprawling crowds at the famed amphitheatre, running through a mix of numbers which included Holden Oversoul, Airplane, Chilly Water and a segue connecting Surprise Valley, Bonnie Dobsons Morning Dew and Mr. Soul. DJ Logic spun in-between sets and joined Widespread Panic for a portion of its show Sunday, including Barstools and Dreamers, Dyin’ Man, Red Hot Mama and an extended drum jam. On Friday, Widespread Panic also nodded to a pair of its predecessors, jamming on Pink Floyds Money after Impossible and the Deads The Other One’ after Smokestack Lightning. The group also welcomed a special guest, Edie Jackson, onstage to provide sign language interpretation. Widespread Panic will perform at Los Angeles Orpheum Theater on July 28.
