John Bell will throw out the first pitch at Wrigley Field before Widespread Panic plays the Chicago Theatre on July 15. The game starts at 1:20 pm and finds the Chicago Cubs taking on the Houston Astros. Bell, a longtime Cubs fan, has previously belted out the National Anthem at Wrigley Field. Over the weekend, Bell and Widespread Panic played a series of shows throughout California. On Thursday the group performed at Los Angeles Orpheum Theater where longtime tour manager Steve Lopez played percussion on Chainsaw City and Dave Schools Stockholm Syndrome bandmate Wally Ingram played percussion during a drum jam sandwiched in Papa’s Home. On Saturday Widespread Panic also broke out its first version of Warren Zevons Werewolves of London’ since April 26, 2002. Then, last night, the group dipped into its back canon at San Diegos Viejas Concerts in the Park, offering its first stab at Taj Mahals She Caught the Katy since October 11, 2005.
