Bob Weir and RatDogs highly collaborative summer tour with Keller Williams continued to earn asterisks last night at Bostons Bank of America Pavilion. As he has each night this tour, Weir joined Williams for a pair of numbers, The Race is On and Friend of the Devil.’ Later in the evening Williams also emerged during RatDogs set to lend his guitar and vocals to a cover of Bob Dylans Quinn the Eskimo. Further collaborations will likely take place tonight at Lincoln, RIs Twin River Event Center.
RatDog will also return to Massachusetts later this summer for an under the radar show at Lowell, MAs Boarding House Park on August 12. This show will include a Q & A session with Weir and Grateful Dead biographer Dennis McNally who will discuss the importance of Lowell native Jack Kerouac’s novel On The Road, along with his traveling partner Neal Cassady’s influence on the Grateful Dead and the hippie movement. The original On The Road manuscript, which is one of the most expensive pieces of original literature in the world, will be on display in the adjacent Boott Museum Gallery. As many readers know, McNally first entered the Grateful Deads circle when Jerry Garcia commissioned him to write the Deads biography after reading his book, _ Desolate Angel: Jack Kerouac, the Beat Generation, and America_.
