Marco Benevento will perform a series of shows on the West Coast in August in support of his first ever solo project, the three-CD set Live At Tonic. For this series of dates the keyboardist will be joined by Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey bassist Reed Mathis, who will also play electric guitar, and Play Pause Stop producer, drummer Matt Chamberlain. Benevento promises a mix of material, ranging from
solo piano renditions of songs by Leonard Cohen and Thelonious Monk to material by artists like Pink Floyd, Benny Goodman, My Morning Jacket and Carly Simon. As on Live At Tonic, each show will also offer some new Benevento originals.
The trios tour will open August 3 at Boulder, COs Trilogy, before making stops at Colroados Telluride Jazz Festival (8/4), Seattles The Triple Door (8/7), Santa Cruzs
Kuumbwa (8/8) and Oakland, CAs Yoshi’s (8/9-11).
