The Dogstock Music and Camping Festival will return for a fifth year later this month. The Akita Adoption and Rescue sanctuary outside of Melvern, KS is the locale for the festival which aims to to raise community awareness of this and other rescue groups’ efforts and to highlight the availability of healthy animals looking for good homes. Animal lovers are invited to bring their lucky dog to the festival, however all pets must be spayed/neutered and have a current vaccination record. Two of the artists originally announced to perform at Dogstock have announced that they will not attend, as both Melvin Seals & JGB as well as Moonalice (which features GE Smith, Barry Sless and Pete Sears) will not be a part of the festival. The latest group of performers to sign on, however, includes: Col. Bruce Hampton and the Quark Alliance, the Willie Waldman Project with John Molo and Tony Franklin and Oakhurst. They join line-up that also includes Garaj Mahal, Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey, New Riders of the Purple Sage, Perpetual Groove, Rebirth Brass Band, Leon Russell, Papa Mali, Great American Taxi, Commander Cody Band, Blueground Undergrass, Moonshine Still, Devon Allman’s Honeytribe, Shanti Groove, Chef Dave Band, Bump, Green Lemon and current New Groove of the Month, Cornmeal. Dogstock will take place from July 26-29.
