This past May 26, the Bhojanic Restaurant in Decatur, Georgia hosted a Beat The Drum event. This interactive endeavor guided by longtime Widespread Panic associate Dr. Arvin Scott, encourages attendees to bring along a drum and participate in a collaborative percussion performance. Scott, a professor at University of Georgia, will be joined by some of students, moving through traditional West African, Afro-Cuban and Afro-Haitian rhythms along with an improv segment. Funds raised from a $10 donation at the door will be directed to Scotts Drumming for Success youth drum program. In addition, there will be raffle for
handcrafted West African Djembe drum, among other prizes.
