Much of the Allman Brothers Band summer tour will take place with additional artists, as RatDog, Keller Williams, Drive By Truckers, JJ Grey & MOFRO and Robert Randolph & the Family Band will share the bills during the month of August. However, the current ABB tour also includes three Evening With performances, in which the group will appear without a support act and deliver two sets of music. The first of these shows took place last evening in Boston at the Bank of America Pavilion. Highlights included versions of Statesboro Blues, Good Morning Little Schoolgirl, Dreams, and Leave My Blues at Home which yielded a drum segment during which bassist Oteil Burbridge moved behind Butch Trucks kit while Trucks moved to timpani. Still, while the ABB had the evening to itself, the group couldnt resist bringing an additional friendly face to the stage, as Susan Tedeschi stepped up midway through the second set, contributing vocals to a version of Anyday and plugging in her guitar for Lost Lover Blues which featured some nice guitar interplay between Tedeschi, Warren Haynes and Tedeschis husband Derek Trucks.

The Allman Brothers Band returns to the Bank of America Pavilion tonight for the second of its Evening With shows (the third of which, incidentally will take place on August 31 at Harrah’s Stir Cove in Council Bluffs, Iowa).
