Almost two years after leaving the Disco Biscuits to pursue a career in medicine, Sam Altman tied the knot over the weekend in northern New Jersey. The drummer, who has only performed live a handful of times since leaving the Disco Biscuits in August of 2005, also used the celebratory occasion to jam onstage with his former bandmates who were guests at the nuptials. During a break in the wedding bands set, Altman, bassist Marc Brownstein, guitarist Jon Gutwillig and keyboardist Aron Magner took the stage to perform a version of The Very Moon which segued into Altmans Sound One (the latter of which the Disco Biscuits have not performed publicly since Altmans departure). Last summer Altman also played with Magner as Moshi Moshi at Camp Bisco V.
The Disco Biscuits current configuration, which features drummer Allen Aucoin, will perform with Umphreys McGee at Brooklyns McCarren Park Pool tomorrow and host its annual Camp Bisco festival this weekend outside Albany, NY. For more on the Disco Biscuits, please read Mike Greenhaus recent interview with Brownstein.
