Last night, Galactic marked the release of its first studio album since 2003s Ruckus, From the Corner to the Block, with an intimate hometown show at New Orleans Maple Leaf. For the occasion, two of the MCs who appear on the hip-hop oriented disc, the Coups Boots Riley and Mr. Lif, stopped by to play on Hustle Up and …And I’m Out, respectively. Mr. Lif also offered a short freestyle rap as an added bonus. In addition, Galactic dipped into its catalogue, offering favorites like Doublewide, FEMA and Garbage Truck. Galactic will perform at San Diego, CAs Southern Comfort Music Experience this Saturday, while drummer Stanton Moore will perform with Garage a Benevento at New Yorks Lions Den tonight.
