Tonight, singer/songwriter Michelle Shocked will celebrate the release of her new album ToHeavenURide with a performance at New Yorks Joes Pub. For the gig Shocked will be accompanied by a familiar face, the Zen Tricksters Klyph Black. The longtime Tricksters bass player actually scored his spot alongside Shocked by chance. Last month, Black attended Shockeds soundcheck at Amagansett, NYs Stephen Talkhous, where he once worked as a sound engineer. When, according to the East Hampton Star, Shocked inquired if there was a guitar player around who could play something between New Orleans and blues Black spoke up and performed with the singer that evening. The collaboration clicked and, tonight, Black will show off his skills on electric and slide guitar.

As for the Zen Tricksters, the group will appear in Stratton, VT this Saturday before hosting their annual free Jerry Garcia tribute at New Yorks South Street Seaport this Sunday.
