Umphreys McGees Brendan Bayliss has composed nine new songs for the Christopher T. Mignanelli documentary The Trip There. According to groups homepage,

the film examines the role of the Spirit (the Buddha, the Godhead, the Source?!) has in shaping the events of everyday human experience. On September 29 Bayliss will perform at a screening for the film held at Chicagos Martyrs’ along with San Diego singer Matt Curreri (who also composed some music for the film).
In other Umphreys McGee news, last Friday the Notre Dame-bred band returned to their collegiate hometown for a performance at South Bend, INs Robert J. Fischgrund Center for Performing Arts. During the groups set Bayliss guitar teacher, Mike Nolan, took the stage during a cover of Talking Heads Making Flippy Floppy, shortly before Half-Pint Jones Steve Krojinowski replaced drummer Kris Myers on Syncopated Strangers. Umphreys McGees next scheduled performance will take place at Madison, WIs The Orpheum on September 13.
