After seven years, Medeski Martin & Wood has decided to lay its annual Halloween tradition to rest. Since 2000 the trio has played either New Yorks Beacon Theater or Hammerstein Ballroom each year, with such eclectic guests as Marc Ribot, Cyro Baptista, Kid Koala, P. Love, Airto Moriera, Dave Tronzo, the Antibalas horns, Sharon Jones, DJ Logic, Robert Randolph, Beat The Donkey, Kenny Wolleson’s marching band, Steven Bernstein, Howard Johnson and the XYZ Aerialists, among others. But, this year, the group had decided to lay Halloween to rest, at least as a night to perform. A message on the groups homepage says the following:

We suspect we’ll see them out trick-or-treating, humming PJ Harvey Tunes, and stuffing their pockets with sweets. Thank you to everyone who has enjoyed a Halloween night with MMW. It wouldn’t have been the same without you. New Yorkers, please come see the band perform at the Music Hall of Williamsburg on Sept. 27. We’re told there are only a few tickets left (very few), so now’s the time.
